The freedom tour supports the efforts of the legions of brave men and women who put their lives on the line fighting for the freedoms of the generations to come. The struggle for rights and freedoms requires constant effort,--this tour is designed to be a peaceful contributor to that cause.

The freedom tour is a Hemp Based Roller Blading Pilgrimage, designed to educate and bring awareness to issues about freedom and what the role of public servants is supposed to be. Also we want to expose the dangers and costs associated with the prohibition of drugs, which serves to increase the abuse of drugs and cause disrespect towards our justice system.

I'm almost finished up in Brandon. Today I visited the local legion and then found a Canada building with a Health Canada branch. I went in and met with the office manager "Brad", he was reluctant to tell me his name or to speak. I gave him the info pack and forced a brief conversation on him. When I asked him for his opinion on the medpot issue he said he "didn't have much of an opinion on it" I asked him to read the info and suggested that if he did he would probably then form an opinion. He seemed compelled to read it and continued to do so after we finished talking, while I gathered up my stuff and put my wrist guards on.
------------
At 4:30 I did an interview with the local CBC t.v. news that went very well. Afterwards I had a good talk with the interviewer and her cameraman. They were exited about what they had learned and I left her with an info pack.
------------
The weather has warmed up and its been quite nice, the roads both on the highway and in are brutal, the local people are generally not so well informed re; the cannabis/drug prohibition. I should be in the "peg" Thursday. I must say the farther east I go without more support the more insecure I feel. So I'm still appealing for help from anyone who can assist in this journey. freedomtour06@hotmail.com

May this find you living in love Neil

The freedom tour has crossed into Manitoba. I leave behind me a very good group of new friends and activists and I'm taking with me a lot of fond memories from my experiences in Saskatchewan and Regina (and I'm not talking about the highways, although there are lots of new stretches being paved, good for next years tour) I've now put appoximately 1200 kms under my wheels and should end up with about 2500 kms done by Ottawa, Ontario. The skating side of the tour will fall short of the original plan but with the contacts made and the impact on the communities the tour has made, it has already been a great success, with much more to come. I should make it to Brandon, Manitoba by Wednesday evening. I have already made contact with some people there and should be OK. I will likely be in Winnipeg, Manitoba by September 26th. Please alert anyone you know there who may want to help (freedomtour06@hotmail.com) It has gone from very hot to very cold in just over a few days. I will have to dress warm and keep moving. There is overwhelming support for what the goals of the freedomtour are (to bring awareness re: what freedom means, the role of public"servants", the costs and dangers caused by drug prohibition and to use the assembled media on remembrance day to get the message out) from everyone that I talk to. Still very much in need of sponsorship (now that its getting cold)if anyone knows of companies or group that might be interested, please alert them about the freedom tour effort.

Well the freedom tour literally took off over the weekend and Medicine Hat is but a distant memory. While at the college looking for an escort east, I was asked by a local flight instructor named Mike, if Id like to fly to Swift currant. It was to cool an offer to refuse so off we took. Moments after take off he turned the controls over to me (along with a few pointers) I climbed to 5500ft and headed due east.the whole thing was to cool for words.Swift Current airport was hosting drag races and we couldn't land so I agreed to go further east to Regina so I flew into the night. I'm really enjoying the"new"skates I traded for. I put a lot of miles on them in the HAT and continue to do so here in Regina. It is a large spread out city and most of the roads are quite good. I've decided my time is better spent interacting with people and orgs.in the communities, although I will continue to put some miles on the highway. I've traveled approximately 750 miles on the blades so far and would like to put on another 800 to 1000 on my way to Ottawa. Duffy Moon is not in Regina and is unable to help. I am on a wing and a prayer. I'm trying to make contacts and get the support needed to move forward. I continue to be optimistic. If anyone knows someone who would like to help it would be greatly appreciated(freedomtour06@hotmail.com).

Continued...

I'm happy to report that things are working out in Regina. Branden from Head to Head has given me a warm welcome and introduced me to some other good people (back in the hands of "family"). I've made some progress re; the Media and have an opportunity to do a morning radio show tomorrow. The library is closing will report later (p.s.-I had never even flown in a small plane in the past, let alone been the Pilot. Too much fun !!!) peace Neil

We hope to see you on the next leg of our pilgrimage as the tour proceeds through Manitoba.
FreedomTour06 is the effort and dream come true of it's members and supporters.

We continue to invite compassionate, progressive and environmentally conscious corporations and individuals to partner with us as we embark on a most important endeavor. Our hemp-based, rollerblading pilgrimage is dedicated to revealing and ending the harms of drug prohibition, restoring our civil liberties and ensuring a future rich in renewable resources for generations to come.

The Freedom Tour will travel cross-country and end in Ottawa on November 12, 2006. We hope it will build momentum and we certainly feel the support. We imagine a caravan of entertainers, ducumentary filmmakers and articulate, outspoken advocates of law reform and social justice traveling from town to town hosting rallies, forums and educational dabates, activley voicing as a human beings, the intrusion against our common civil liberty in the form of prohibition and the war on drugs.

Prohibition hurts everyone. We are taking this message to Parliament Hill and we will be heard !In order to finance our journey, we are continuing to seek sponsorships from companies whose logos, message and merchandise will be featured on this tour across Canada. We currently have a couple copanies who have come forth with sponsorship and we intend to have all the details updated soon. Don't forget to bookmark our page to keep up with the events of the tour!

We have a limited number of sponsorship spots avaliable due to a finite amount of time and advertising space. If you would like to help sponsor this historic event please act quickly! We greatly appreciate any contribution you would be willing to make. All contributions will go to finance the Freedom Tour and to the case of reclaiming our basic civil liberties.

We are also searching for members of the hemp industry who are willing to supply us with earth-friendly merchandise to include in our sponsorship kits. In return, we will promote and sell your products along our pilgrimage route. If monetary compensation is necessary, we may be able to work out a mutually beneficial arrangement. Please consider this valuable opportunity to market your company across the country.

Additionally we are seeking submissions from artist, entertainers and other members of the artistic communities about how illicit drugs have affected their creative processes. Tell us all about it: the good, the bad and the ugly! Even if you cannot provide us with this kind of information, please consider taking a moment of your time writing a short note stating who you are, why you believe this tour is important and why this needs to be successful. Thank you for your time and consideration.

The DEFINITION OF FREEDOM:
In the context of the Charter and the relationship betweeen Section 7 and Section 1 thereof, this test appears to have been continued. In this regard, see the words of Dickson J. as he was then in R. v. BIG M Drug Mart Ltd. 1986, (3d) 385 at pp. 417-418:

Freedom can primarily be characterized by absence of coercion or constraint. If a person is compelled by the state or will of another to a course of action or inaction which he would not otherwise have chosen, he is not acting of his own volition then he cannot be said to be truly free. One of the major purposes of the Charter is to protect within reason, from compulsion or restraint. Coercion includes not only such latent forms of compulsions as commands to act or refrain from acting on pain of sanction, coercion included indirect forms of control which determine or limit alternative courses of conduct available to others. Freedom in the broad sense embraces both the absense of coercion and constraint, and the right to manifest beliefs and practices. Freedom means that, subject to such limitations as are necessary to protect public safety, order, health, morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others, no one is to be forced to act in a way contrary to his beliefs or his conscience.
